Zhengji Liang, Guiyin Tian, Barry Chan
Marine conservation is increasingly urgent due to pollution, overfishing, and climate change, which pose significant threats to marine ecosystems. Plastic pollution, in particular, has severe negative effects on the survival of sea animals. This paper presents
Blue Planet Rescue VR, an immersive virtual reality (VR) game aimed at raising public awareness and prompting action in the face of an environmental crisis. This two-player collaborative game combines interactive mechanics, a heads-up display (HUD), and educational elements to address these pressing issues. Players explore the underwater environment, learning about the harmful effects of pollution on marine ecosystems and are motivated to engage in real-life conservation efforts. The game underscores the necessity of collective action for marine preservation, advocating that unity is essential to safeguarding our blue planet.
