History of Hong Kong

An XRCC Demo project showcasing the History of Hong Kong - from a fishing village to a bustling metropolis.

Rafi Ansari

The History of Hong Kong Demo is a project made with XRCC 2, during the CCHU9056 course held by the professors and staff in our lab. The project lets you experience five distinct periods in Hong Kong’s History – a fishing village, early entrepot, life during the Japanese Invasion, industrial development and the present-day Hong Kong.

In each scene you can try to experience the daily life of the locals who lived in each period, to understand the type of work and difficulties they faced. From the fishermen who used nets to fish for food, dockhands who worked for the British Empire, citizens under constant discrimination from a foreign occupier - to locals working in factories making toys.

This project was initially made in the CCHU course when all the people working on demo were beginners in XRCC 2. Later, it was completely overhauled to give a much more suitable demo experience.
