Siege Command Simulator
A CAVE-based siege command simulator which blends real-time strategy with full-body interaction.

Siege Command Simulator is an immersive command-and-control simulation developed for the Human-System Interaction (HIS) Lab's CAVE virtual reality environments. The project explores how large-scale immersive displays can be used to combine strategic decision-making with full-body interaction.
Players take the role of a battlefield commander overseeing a medieval siege. Using a tracked controller, they direct infantry and archer regiments by drawing movement paths directly within the virtual environment. Troops automatically engage opponents, retreat when overwhelmed, and regroup at friendly positions, creating a dynamic battlefield that rewards strategic positioning and timing.
Unlike traditional real-time strategy games, the commander is also physically present within the battle. While coordinating troops, players must remain aware of incoming enemy attacks and physically dodge arrows within the CAVE space. This combination of tactical planning and embodied interaction creates a unique experience that leverages the strengths of immersive visualization systems.
The project was developed in Unity using VotanicXR and supports multiple gameplay modes, including single-player siege scenarios, survival challenges, and a multiplayer mode connecting different CAVE installations. Through this work, the project investigates how immersive environments can enhance engagement, situational awareness, and collaborative virtual experiences.
